November 2017 Wrap Up

Jen
November seemed to be a decent enough reading month for me. I finally, finally made some progress on those series that I've been trying to get through for months now. Even better, I also actually managed to finish one of the trilogies!

Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare (audiobook) → 4/5
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni → 4/5
Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour → 3/5
The Battle for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #3) by Tony DiTerlizzi → 3/5
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale → 4.5/5
Fullmetal Alchemist 3-in-1 Volume 7 by Hiromu Arakawa &  Akira Watanabe → 3/5
The 13-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton → 3/5
The 26-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton → 4/5
The 39-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton → 3/5

Mel
This month wasn't a fantastic reading month for me, but I expected that due to NaNoWriMo. I did work my way through several books, but only managed to finish two.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl  3/5
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur  1/5

November 2017 TBR

Jen
This will the month in which I attempt (yet again) to try and continue/finish all those series that I’m currently reading. And because I’m always overly optimistic about how much reading I’ll actually be able to get done, there are a couple of standalone novels that I want to get to as well.

Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon - started
Fullmetal Alchemist (3-in-1 Edition) Volume 7 by Hiromu Arakawa & Akira Watanabe - started
Warrior (The Dragon King Chronicles #2) & King (#3) by Ellen Oh
The Battle for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #3) by Tony DiTerlizzi
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale
Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour
If There’s No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

Mel
Well, I have no idea if I'll get any books read this month because I'm doing NaNoWriMo again! That's likely going to take up a lot of my time, but if I do get any read, it's likely going to be an audiobook or two.

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) and Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl (because I started it ages ago and I literally have no excuses for not finishing it yet!)

October 2017 TBR

Jen
I don’t usually follow the typical theme of choosing mysteries or thrillers or scary books to read during October, but for some unknown reason, it’s what I’m currently in the mood for, so I’m just going to go with it! I’m well aware that it’ll be impossible to get to all of these, but I do like giving myself options.

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
The Takedown by Corrie Wang
Wreck by Fleur Ferris
Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
Nerve by Jeanne Ryan
The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer

And of course, there are those series that I’m still working on finishing. Most of these were on my overly ambitious TBR last month. I did start a few but I wasn’t even close to getting to them all.

Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon - started
Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) by Beth Revis - started
Warrior (The Dragon King Chronicles #2) & King (#3) by Ellen Oh
The Battle for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #3) by Tony DiTerlizzi
Dark Heart Surrender (Dark Heart #3) by Lee Monroe
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale

Mel
So, I have a bunch of books that I've gotten out to read and just never got to, or I put down for one reason or another. That's the bunch that I'm picking from this month. I probably won't read all of these, but hopefully I'll cut the stack down a bit.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
The Two Towers Part One by JRR Tolkien
A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
Letters to the Lost by
Release by Patrick Ness
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Beyond the Wall by Tanya Landman
The Bone Collection by Kathy Reichs
All That Glitters (Geek Girl #4) by Holly Smale
The Black Witch by Laurie Forest

If for any reason I don't feel like reading those, I'll probably fall back on this bunch:

Hover (The Taking #2) & Collide (The Taking #3) by Melissa West
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas

September 2017 Wrap Up

Jen
Well this was definitely my most depressing reading month of the year so far. I only just barely managed to finish two books. I’m definitely used to reading a lot more, so I’m blaming it on my new job, which took up a lot more time than expected! But I also started a couple of other books and pretty much every book that I picked up this month was massive! So I feel like that has to count for something!

A Hero for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #2) by Tony DiTerlizzi → 4/5
Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices #2) by Cassandra Clare → 4/5

Currently reading
Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) by Beth Revis
Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon

Mel
I had a pretty good reading month for once! I got a few of my old kids books read, which is good, because I've already got two books at least to unhaul. But I'm definitely getting back into reading, so hopefully my slump is over!

Because You Love To Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy edited by Ameriie  4/5
Falling Feather by Marcus Meinhold  3/5
Fright Nights: Thirteen Scary Stories by JB Stamper  3/5
Clue #9: Mystery in the Moonlight by AE Parker  4/5
Adultolescence by Gabbie Hanna 2/5
The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles  4.5/5

September 2017 TBR

Jen
I’ve officially started my new job! Hours are crazy hectic and I’ll have to be constantly studying on top of that so I really have no idea how my reading will go in September. My TBR is basically all series continuations or conclusions and I’m really hoping that I’ll still be able to get through a few. Especially since a few of the books are huge!

Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices #2) by Cassandra Clare
Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon
Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) by Beth Revis
Dark Heart Surrender (Dark Heart #3) by Lee Monroe
Warrior (The Dragon King Chronicles #2) & King (#3) by Ellen Oh
A Hero for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #2) by Tony DiTerlizzi
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale

Mel
I've already started September on a good note! Hopefully I can keep it up.

This Savage Song by VE Schwab
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
The Two Towers Part 1 - The Treason of Isengard by JRR Tolkien
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas

August 2017 TBR

Jen
In some very exciting news, I’ll be starting my new job soon! Therefore I have no idea how much time I’ll actually have to devote to reading. I am participating in the TomeTopple readathon this month (Mel and I have a separate TBR for that) but other than that I don’t really know what I feel like reading. So I’m just going to try and continue on with the books that I’m currently reading and series that I need to continue.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare
A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOTAR #3) by Sarah J. Maas
Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon
A Hero for Wondla (The Search for Wondla #2) by Tony DiTerlizzi
A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis
Dark Heart Rising (Dark Heart #2) by Lee Monroe
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Mel
Some of these books are for the TomeTopple readathon, which I may not actually finish during the readathon. I have added a few more for a bit more variety and to clear out some old books that I was given a few months ago. A few of them are really short, so they should take barely any time to read, assuming I find them interesting!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
This Savage Song by VE Schwab
The Two Towers Part 1: The Treason of Isengard by JRR Tolkien
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
Dragonsbane by Patricia C Wrede
Quest by David Skipper
The Ghosts of Ravens Crag by Hugh Scott

July 2017 Wrap Up

Jen
I had such a fantastic reading month in July! I finished up so many books and cleared out my currently reading shelf as well as managing to complete two series!! There were also a few books that I hadn’t planned on reading at all, but for a while, all I was in the mood for was to read books and then watch their adaptations!
I did fall off the rails in the last week of July and neglected my reading in favour of catching up on months of unwatched TV. But I’m still so happy with what I read. However I think that the bigger accomplishment was the fact that I added only one new book to my physical TBR pile while reading 10 of my unread books! That means I decreased my TBR pile by 9 books, and that hasn’t happened once in the past three years! Feeling so proud of myself!

Dark Heart Forever by Lee Monroe → 3.5/5
Across the Universe by Beth Revis → 4.75/5
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying: A simple, effective way to banish clutter forever by Marie Kondo → 5/5
Spark Joy: An Illustrated Guide to the Japanese Art of Tidying by Marie Kondo → 5/5
The Messenger by Markus Zusak → 3.5/5
Through the Dark by Alexandra Bracken → 3/5
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins → 3.5/5
Bakuman Volume 11 by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata → 5/5
Bakuman Volume 12 by Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata → 4/5
The Search for Wondla by Tony DiTerlizzi → 4/5
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes → 3.5/5
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky → 4/5
An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare & Illustrated by Cassandra Jean → 4/5
Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson & Robin Wasserman → 4.5/5 (Re-read)
Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan → 5/5
The Martian by Andy Weir → 5/5 (Re-read)
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty → 4.75/5
Winter by Marissa Meyer → 5/5
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer → 4.75/5

Mel
I kept picking up books, reading a little bit, then moving onto something else. I just couldn't stick to the one book! I did manage to finish one at least.

July 2017 TBR

Jen
I don’t know what came over me, but in June I just kept starting books without finishing them. I was really enjoying each new book that I started, but the problem was that there was always other books that I wanted to read as well. So my main focus for July will be to try and finish all the books that I am currently reading. The problem is still going to be that there are so many other books I want to read as well, and there’s just no knowing what my mood will dictate.

Currently reading
Through The Dark by Alexandra Bracken
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson & Robin Wasserman
An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare & Illustrated by Cassandra Jean
The Search for Wondla (#1) by Tony DiTerlizzi
The Messenger by Markus Zusak
Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

Series to continue/finish
Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer
A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOTAR #3) by Sarah J. Maas
Draekora (The Medoran Chronicles #3) by Lynette Noni
Picture Perfect (Geek Girl #3) by Holly Smale

Other books I want to read

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Takedown by Corrie Wang

All That Glitters by Holly Smale
