I acquired quite a haul of books in April. Most of these were due to the fact that I suddenly kept spotting super cheap prices of books on my Book Depository wishlist. I also have one of my local department stores to thank for a few as well. Big W is the absolute worst for impulse buying! It's constantly making me break my rule of not buying books in a series before that series is complete! The temptation of having reasonably priced books that I can take home with me straight away is something that I just can't resist because the worst thing about buying books online is having to wait for them to arrive in the mail.
Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell
This is a short story that was specially written for World Book Day. I know nothing else about it, but Rainbow Rowell is one of my autobuy authors so of course I had to get myself a copy.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
This book is constantly praised and talked about and I've never read it. I've never owned a copy because I always wanted it in hardcover, but I saw this paperback copy sitting on the shelf and before I knew it, I'd purchased it.
Firstlife by Gena Showalter
This hasn't gotten the greatest reviews, but the story did interest me so when I saw it sitting on the shelf I decided to go ahead and buy it. And the cover is beautiful!
The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead
I read Soundless by Richelle Mead a few months ago and absolutely loved it so of course I wanted to read more books by her. Her Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series are loved and talked about by so many people, but I was never really all that into vampires and I think I've moved past reading those books now. However this is the first book in a fantasy series which sounds more like my kind of thing.
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
I hauled a signed special edition hardcover copy of this book only last month, but I absolutely love this cover and when I saw it on the shelves I just had to grab it.
The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan
This is a series that I have had on my wishlist for months and months but I could never bring myself to buy it before because these beautiful hardcovers are so expensive! I was lucky enough to spot it super cheap one day so I snapped it up and I can't wait to dive into this series!
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
It was a similar situation with these books as well. But I'm so happy to finally have them and I look forward to starting this series once I finish the Heroes of Olympus.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
This one was surprisingly difficult to get my hands on because I wanted this particular edition and Book Depository was constantly be out of stock. I was lucky one day and managed to get myself a copy right before it sold out again! The book is beautiful and I've heard so many good things about it!
Lady Renegades by Rachel Hawkins
This is the third and final book in the Rebel Belle trilogy that I have wanted to read since the first book came out two years ago. I have waited and waited for all the books to come out and now I can marathon them!
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
This is the final book in the Raven Cycle Quartet by Maggie Stiefvater. Again, I wanted to own all the books in the series before I started reading it.
The Orphan Queen & The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows
This is a YA high fantasy duology involving magic which is everything that I love and I can't wait to get to these ones! And those covers are gorgeous! And so reflective!
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
This is the first book in the Newsoul trilogy that I have had on my radar for a while now. I knew that I wanted these hardcover editions and unfortunately Incarnate is out of print in this edition so I had to get a rather expensive copy from eBay. It was worth it though!
Red Rising & Golden Son by Pierce Brown
These are the first two books in a dystopian trilogy that I have heard great things about. They are normally so expensive so when I spotted them cheap one day I bought them and now I'm on the hunt for the third book.
Gathering Darkness & Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes
Books three and four in the Falling Kingdoms series. I read the first two books in this series in 2015 and absolutely loved them. But the books were so expensive and now, six months later, my library still hasn't managed to get a copy of Gathering Darkness (major fail on their part) so I just never continued on with the series. But as with most of the books in this haul, I miraculously saw them cheap one day and pounced on them.
A Book of Spirits and Thieves by Morgan Rhodes
This is the first book in a spin-off prequel series to Falling Kingdoms and it was also cheap so I grabbed it as well.
The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
This is an author who is constantly raved about and his Mistborn series is one in particular that I've wanted to read. But I've always been a little intimidated by how big his books are and also put off by the fact that he has so many series that are currently incompleted. But I decided to just go for it and start myself off with the first three of the seven books in the Mistborn series. Bonus, this box set is just gorgeous!
Outlander & Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
So apparently I've turned into one of those people who must have multiple editions of the same book because of the covers. I have been obsessed with all things Outlander lately since I started reading the second book and the second season of the TV show started airing. But just look at these beautiful covers! Especially the Dragonfly in Amber cover. How could I not add these to my collection?
