Jen's 2018 Most Anticipated Releases

As I did in 2017, I tried to keep this list to a minimum and only included books that I am super interested in or excited about and that I genuinely think I will read very soon after release. As this post is going up much later than originally intended, some of these books have already been released. Which also means that I have actually read or started some of these books already.

I also just posted a check in with my most anticipated releases of 2017 and I was happy to discover that by keeping my list shorter, I managed to read approximately half of the books. A much better effort than in 2016.

Ultimately, my absolute top priority in 2018 is to get my number of unread owned books down so I definitely don’t want to be adding a whole bunch more to the list!

Love, Hate & Other Filters

Love, Hate and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

This is a novel dealing with Islamophobia in America and seems to be a part of the increasing trend of realistic contemporaries dealing with real world issues that we are facing today. I immediately wanted to read this book as soon as I heard about it. The synopsis sounded amazing and I was expecting great things. I have read this book and was quite sad that it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Graevale (The Medoran Chronicles, #4)Graevale (The Medoran Chronicles #4) by Lynette Noni

I read the first 3 books in this series last year and really enjoyed them! This is a super addictive YA fantasy series involving magic and a mysterious library. This fourth book just came out recently and I’ve started reading it already.

Obsidio (The Illuminae Files, #3)

Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This is also another favourite series of mine. I read Illuminae when it first came out and read Gemina when it was released. Then the release of this book got pushed back so I had an even longer wait. It was also recently released and of course I’ve started reading this one as well.

Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices, #3)

Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare

I finally, finally got around to reading Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows in 2017 and how things left off destroyed me and I’m still not okay. Thank god that the release date for this book was brought forward because I need the conclusion to this trilogy!

Save the Date

Save the Date by Morgan Matson

I don’t even know what this book is about but I’m dying to have it in my hands. It’s by one of my favourite authors who is also an auto-buy author for me. Morgan Matson writes some amazing summer contemporaries and I can’t wait for this book.

Found by Fleur Ferris

This is another auto-buy author for me. Fleur is an Australian author who writes YA contemporary with a mystery/thriller element thrown in. I’ve loved each of her previous books and I can’t wait for this new one!

Untitled (Throne of Glass #7) by Sarah J. Maas

This is another of my favourite series. However the insane hype has died down quite a lot from a year or two ago. I’ve actually still only read up to Empire of Storms. I still haven’t read Tower of Dawn yet because I was most displeased to say the least to learn that it was all about Chaol (whom I hate). I also hated that what was originally supposed to be a novella got turned into another full length novel, which meant that the release of this book got pushed back. My excitement for this series is nowhere near what it was pre Tower of Dawn, but I am invested enough that I want to find out how everything ends.
