So I’m
behind again. This post was meant to happen way back at the start of July and
it somehow never did. But 2018 has turned out to be an AMAZING reading year for
me so far. Giving myself the freedom to read what I wanted, when I wanted
really has been the key. I didn’t set many goals for myself and the ones that I
did set, I wasn’t too strict with. My main objective was to read as much as
possible while working on decreasing my physical TBR pile and at some unknown
point that seemed to take over and become my main focus. I started noticing
that the majority of TBR books I’d actually owned for 2 or 3 years before
finally getting to reading them. In a way that’s been great and I’m so happy to
clear out some of the older books from my TBR. But I’ve also started feeling
like I’m neglecting the newer releases so I guess I need to find a balance.
Goodreads
Reading Challenge: 100 books → on track
As of
September 1st 2018 I have read 105/120 books. That already surpassed the
original goal of 100 books that I set. I increased the number to 120 just to
give myself a little extra challenge and I’m super confident I’ll reach that
goal as well.
Decrease
my TBR pile → on track
I am so
happy with where I’m at with this goal. From the beginning of the year I really
made an effort to read from my physical TBR pile as much as possible and now
it’s like I’ve become addicted to the thrill of crossing another book off my
TBR and seeing that number go down. As of September 1st I have only added 5 new
books to my TBR, read 48 of my TBR books and unhauled another 7. All that
equals decreasing my TBR by 70 books! 70!! I didn’t think it was possible but
here I am and still going strong!
Read/complete
10 series → COMPLETED
I’ve
already completed this goal but I’ll definitely be aiming to finish more series
throughout the rest of 2018 because there are still so many I need to get to!

Restricting
re-reads → on track
I’ve
re-read eleven books so far this year which has already exceeded my total
re-reads for 2017 but I’m okay with that so far. I did have a list of the books
that I anticipated I would re-read in 2018, and two of the series on that list
are quite long.
Harry
Potter series by J.K. Rowling
I am
absolutely loving re-reading this series and re-watching the movies as well.
I’m currently up to Half-Blood Prince so this re-read is almost over!
Throne of
Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
I have a hopeless memory and I’ve
forgotten almost everything that’s happened so my original plan was to re-read
books 1-5 plus the novellas, and then read Tower of Dawn for the first time,
all in time for the release of Kingdom of Ash in October. I’m currently up to
Queen of Shadows and am loving experiencing this series again.
How could you not love this cover?
