April 2016 TBR

Jen
This is going to be yet another month in which I have an overly ambitious TBR, especially since a few of my picks are very lengthy! The netball season in Australia also begins in April! I’m so excited for it but it will mean less time for reading. I know that I probably won’t be able to get to all the books on this list, but I have the ever constant problem of just wanting to read everything at once. I can’t narrow this list down any more but it does give me some room for choice.

Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander #2) by Diana Gabaldon
I started Outlander in January and was not expecting to love it as much as I did. I sped through all 800+ pages of it because all I wanted to do was keep reading. I recently just got around to watching season one of the TV show and absolutely loved it. It totally put me back in the mood to continue reading the books. I have heard that this book is a lot slower and not as good as the first book but I’m still excited to read it, especially since season two of the TV show will be airing very soon!

Not A Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinnis
This is a dystopian book that I have been interested in reading for a while now. This is the April book pick for the Goodreads group Chapter Chats with Trina. Trina constantly raves about this book (and its sequel In A Handful Of Dust), on her booktube channel Between Chapters and it was actually what convinced me to buy these books. I was super excited to see that this was the first book chosen for the GR group and I can’t wait to read it (and the sequel if I can get to it)!

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson & Robin Wasserman
After having finally finished my re-read of the entire Mortal Instruments series I’m excited to stay in the shadowhunter world as I read this collection of novellas and then move on to…

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare
I have wanted to read this book since I finished The Mortal Instruments for the first time about a year ago. It was a long wait but now that I finally have it I can’t wait to just immerse myself in the story.

The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
I read all five books currently out in the Song of Ice and Fire series and watched all five seasons of the TV show in 2015. Since season six will be airing at the end of April, it seems like the perfect time to read this book and learn more about this super complex world whilst refreshing my memory on the details of what has happened so far.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline (audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton)
I listened to Armada in 2015 and while I did enjoy it, it definitely wasn’t the best thing ever. But I am excited for this book because the premise sounds more interesting to me and just about everyone raves about it and says that it’s better than Armada. And who doesn’t love a Wil Wheaton narration?

The Martian by Andy Weir (audiobook narrated by R. C. Bray)
I read this towards the end of 2015 and it turned out to be one of my favourite reads. I have wanted to re-read it for some time now and I started listening to the audiobook at the end of March. I didn’t quite finish it but I am absolutely loving it. The narrator is one of the best I’ve heard.

Atlantia by Ally Condie
I had been debating over whether or not to read this book for about a year now. I had read the Matched trilogy by this author and I hated how it ended. Also, I have only heard mostly overwhelmingly negative things about this book, which almost put me off reading it altogether. But I still really liked the premise and so I decided to get the book from my library and just give it a go. I also started reading it at the end of March and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’d really love to finish it in April.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
I hadn't planned on reading this at all but since I saw that it was going to be the Booksplosion book for April, I decided on the spot that I wanted to re-read it. It's been over a year since I read anything by Morgan Matson and Second Chance Summer was one of my favourite books of 2015. This was such a last minute addition to an already ambitious TBR but I'd still love to get to it if I can!

The following books were ones on my March TBR that I didn’t get to but I would still like to read if I can get to them so I’m carrying them over onto my April TBR.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (#3) by J.K. Rowling
Dark Heart Forever (Dark Heart trilogy #1) by Lee Monroe
Anne of the Island (Anne of Green Gables #3) by L.M. Montgomery

Mel
I think I might wing it this month, since I'll be super busy with uni and I've been a bit slumpy. However, there are a few that I do want to get to.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Illustrated edition by JK Rowling.
I haven't yet read the illustrated edition and I was in the mood, so why not?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
This has been on my TBR list for AGES now, but since it's one of the books for Readalongs With April this month, I hope to finally read it! Especially since the next book in the series is out next month.
