Jen's 2015 Reading & Bookish Resolutions

This will be a list of all the reading goals that I wish to accomplish and also my most wanted book purchases for the year of 2015! Depending on how they are going, I may do progress updates every month or just whenever I feel like it.

Goodreads 2015 reading challenge: 50 books (However, I went on a reading rampage in January and read far more books than I thought I would be able to. However, my reading has since slowed. I will see how this challenge is progressing throughout the year and decide whether I need to increase the challenge or not.)

Read 50 books that are at least 200 pages in length (I have created a separate 2015 reads list on Goodreads for this as my 2015 reading challenge does include completed novellas and short books.)

Read all TBR Jodi Picoult books (I own every single one of her books and have actually read the majority of them. However, there are some that I have owned for many years and have been sitting unread while life and other things got in the way. This is the year that I will read them all!)

Complete at least 10 series/trilogies (I seem to be acquiring series at rather an alarming rate so I need to read them and 10 just seems like a good number to aim for.)

Read at least 1 classic (I am definitely not one for reading classics, but I do have a select few that I read a children’s version of, many, many years ago and absolutely loved them. It is definitely about time that I read the adult versions of these books.)

Start and finish all Cassandra Clare books (All 6 books in The Mortal Instruments series, all 3 books in The Infernal Devices trilogy and The Bane Chronicles. This is a very important goal for me as I own all those books mentioned and as of the start of February, I have not read a single one.)

Get TBR pile down to at least 50 books (Below 50 would be great but I’ll definitely be happy once I reach 50, considering I will still be buying books throughout the year. Also, I am only including physical books that I own and are sitting on my shelf in my TBR. eBooks will not be included. TBR count at end of Jan: 75)

Read more unread books than I buy each month (Even if it is only 1 book more, it will still help with my previous goal.)

Buy all 7 Harry Potter books in the original adult hardcover edition (This is the one goal I most want to complete, but is also probably the most difficult to complete. Since the release of the new (and very, very horrible) adult covers, It is almost impossible to find the original adult covers, brand new and in hardcover. Cost is also a major factor here.)

Buy The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare in hardcover (This one is more challenging than I would have thought, particularly because Book Depository always seems to be out of stock everytime that I actually have money and go to place an order. It is becoming more than irritating.)

Jen's Most Anticipated 2015 Book Releases

You Belong to Me by Samantha Hayes - This is one of my automatic buy authors. I have been waiting for a new book from her and can’t wait to read it!

Sweet by Tammara Webber - I have already read the first two books in this series and I know this totally goes against where I stand on reading a series, but I read the first two books before I was aware that there was going to be a third book. I loved the first two and am really looking forward to this one!

P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han - I LOVED the Summer I Turned Pretty series that she wrote. I read all three books within 24 hours, they were that good. I needed more books by her, so I bought To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Then I found out that there was a sequel so the first book has been sitting patiently on my shelf waiting for the release of the second book. I cannot wait to get my hands on this new book and devour them both.

The Heir by Kiera Cass - I have heard nothing but good things about The Selection series and have been wanting to read this series for months now. Once this final book comes out I can finally buy it and then marathon the series.

The Queen and The Favourite by Kiera Cass - For the same reasons as above.

Winter by Marissa Meyer - Again, every single person I have come across that has read these books absolutely RAVES about the Lunar Chronicles series. And who doesn’t love a fairytale retelling? I have been waiting for so long for this last book to come out so I can buy the whole series and then finally, finally read it.

The Game of Lives by James Dashner - This series is a little bit different. The Maze Runner series by this author was not one of my favourites. It was okay, but I definitely have other books that I enjoyed more. So I was skeptical about The Mortality Doctrine series. But when I found out that it was sci-fi and dystopian I got a little excited about it because I love reading about futuristic worlds and all the technological advances. I am definitely looking forward to the release of the final book so I can buy and read the series.

Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner - The Starbound trilogy combines fantasy, sci-fi and dystopia so it sounded amazing to me and I have heard only good things about this series. Eagerly awaiting the last book to come out so I can read them all!

Off The Page by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer - Jodi Picoult is another of my automatic buy authors. I believe that this book is supposed to be a sequel or companion novel to Between The Lines, the first book that Picoult wrote with her daughter. While I have not yet read that book, I am looking forward to the release of this one so that I can read them both together.

Legend: The Graphic Novel by Marie Lu - I am relatively new to graphic novels and have been wanting to start reading them but just never really knew where to start. As Legend is one of my all time favourite books, this seems like it would be the perfect graphic novel for me and I am so excited for it to come out.

Mel's Most Anticipated Book Releases of 2015

"Untitled" (The 5th Wave book 3) by Rick Yancey - I read The 5th Wave last year when it first popped up in my usual book supplier (Big W), and flew through it in no time. I have got The Infinite Sea as well, but it's still in my TBR pile. Still, just by going on how good the first book was, I have no issues adding the third book to this list.

The Heir by Kiera Cass - I have The Selection on my shelf, waiting to be read. I have not yet got The One or The Elite, but they'll be added to my shelf soon enough.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson - I've read a lot of good reviews for The Kiss of Deception and I have it on order. And because I like to collect series', I'll get this one too.

The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand - I am really looking forward to this book. As this book is more contemporary than fantasy, I'm intrigued to see how the author handles the change in genre from the Unearthly series. Purchased!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas - With the first three books already on my shelf, I want this one to keep the series up to date.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - Simply because I've heard so many good things about Sarah, I'll add this series to my shelf too.

Half Wild by Sally Green - I have Half Bad, so this is another series I wish to keep up to date.

Rogue by Julie Kagawa - The second book in the Talon Saga, the first of which will have a review quite soon. What I love about this series (Talon, anyway) is that there are questions for discussion printed in the back of the book.

Trail of Tears by Josephine Angelini - I loved her Starcrossed series so much that any book from Angelini is being added to my collection.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby - Years ago, I read a book by Laura Ruby and loved it. However, I haven't really kept up with her work since, until I came across this one. I read the description and decided that I want it!
